Public Policy
Domestic
violence has an enormous impact on the safety and quality of life of
survivors throughout Colorado. More than
26,000 Coloradoans received domestic violence-related services from shelter
and outreach
programs last year.
Our Coalition has been the state's leading voice
on law and public policy in the field of intimate partner violence
for 29 years. Strengthening legislation that
protects victims and holds offenders accountable is a critical part of
the work
CCADV
does
to end
domestic
violence in all its forms.

CCADV works hard each day to ensure that domestic violence prevention
continues to be a legislative and social policy priority. CCADV’s
Public Policy Program works to:
-
influence public policy and decision-making
regarding domestic violence on the state and federal level;
-
address systemic problems facing abused women
and children in Colorado;
-
determine how systems can better protect women
and their children;
-
collaborate with the legislative, executive
and judicial branches of government and with various agencies to
make change;
-
give our diverse network of rural and urban
member programs and allies a strong voice at the Colorado General
Assembly;
-
respond to legislation that impacts women and
children;educate legislators on the consequences, both intended
and unintended, of legislation and initiatives; and
-
research and analyze possible legislation,
including how other states have addressed similar issues.
CCADV’s legislative committee is coordinated by our Public Policy
Director. We invite all individuals interested in ending domestic violence
to participate. Click here for more information
